You might consider a zoom lens for those longer shots and for close ups that are interesting. Such as the expression on the face of the lady as she jumps up to stop the ball from going in the goal.
I like the idea of seeking action shots but you are right, it was very hot that day.

Hot! How do they do it?
I stayed and shot only a few frames from my car, it was way too hot to be out in the sun let alone running and kicking the soccer ball.
Youth is the secret I am sure!
Yup. But then if it isn't within 20 feet of the car it isn't photogentic. Good action on the 2nd!
