Fall Weekend in the Columbia River Gorge

Great weather to spend the weekend in the Columbia River Gorge just to the East of Portland Oregon.  I was able to spend most of the weekend taking in the sites all through the historic and scenic Columbia River Gorge.

My first stop of this venture taking in the scenery, was at the Sandy River bridge where I met a gentleman named Rafal. He just arrived here in the United States for the first time and had just gotten off the airplane from Poland.  At the time I spoke to him, it was 6pm (Supper Time) at home, he made a comment about experiencing "Jet Lag" and being tired.

From there I drove to what I was hoping to be the the historic Vista House that sits high above the Columbia River.  When I got to the turnoff to the Vista House, I was met with a few pieces of road construction equipment and a sign that said "Road Closed" and another that said "Entry of Unauthorized Vehicles will be fined $520.00.   I didn't have that kind of money to spend on a ticket so I could get a few pictures from the top of the gorge.  So... I opted to hike in (downhill) and take the scenery in on foot.  The total hike was about 1.5 miles but well worth the sweat.

On Sunday I really wanted to go back to the same area to take in some of the falls and historic places but was short on money.  Finally after kicking around, I decided to drive in and shoot Multnomah Falls, and many other falls in the area.

More images from the weekend can be seen on my webpage http://carmichaelphoto.smugmug.com/Landscapes

While visiting the page, please feel free to leave comments and/or thumbs up or down on your favorites or least favorites.  I hope you enjoy the images and someday are able to take in the scenery as I did over this weekend. It took me 45 years to finally have time to take it in, Please do not take so long to get there, It will be worth the trip regardless where you are from..

Happy Haunting,

Had a great week so far and it is only Wednesday.  Business is ok but I am working on a few projects to make Carmichael Photography a little better known.

Take a break and check out an up and coming photographer in Albany Oregon.  She has an eye and knows basics on post processing in Photoshop but most of all she has the desire to learn and loves the camera.  See some of her work on her Facebook page and be sure to leave comments on the photos.  You can see them here.  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.552886551393960.147032.100000178604455&type=1&notif_t=photo_album_reply

Here in the Northwest, Fall weather has set in and is now very damp and dark.  The long cool nights and dreary days have created some challenges to outdoor shooting so I am looking forward to clearer skies even if it is the last day of October. Happy Haunting.

Zombified Clown Convention in PDX

Saturday in Portland Oregon was the first "Zombified Clown Convention" that I know of.  It was a great event with a huge turnout of the walking dead and a few undead.

The event was very interesting to say the least. People (Dead and alive) came from miles around, some of the partying corpses came from as far away as Salem and Seattle areas.

Games were played, food and (adult and other) refreshments (no appendages were sacrificed and no blood was spilled) were available for everyone that attended.

Just ordered these from VistaPrint.

Had a great day today, I won a SmugMug Pro Account and just ordered my first "Non self printed" set of Business cards.  I have been printing these for three years, I guess it's time to get serious.  :)

Oregon Coast on a fall day

The Oregon Coast was pretty amazing today. We had good and bad weather and were even greeted with a lightning storm as we were on the way home.  Check out the rest of the photos from the day at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4752457206935.2192666.1160299484&type=1

Cape Meares Lighthouse, Oregon Coast

It has been a long while since posting anything here.

Carmichael photography has been taking much of my time but we are coming up on a slow time of the year. I have been working my photography business pretty regularly and have been blessed with some great clients and mentors guiding me along the way.

In growing my business I have opened a small portrait studio in Dallas Oregon and now have photo galleries hosted on smugmug. The galleries are at www.carmichaelphotostudio.com.
You can check out new and old images, you can also order any image and have it printed on almost any medium by the best print house I have found to date. Their name is WHCC PRO also know as White House Custom Color.

Enjoy your day and check out more images on www.carmichaelphotostudio.com
