Friday hike in the snow at Fitton Green Natural Area

Photos are from the Fitton Green Natural Area in Benton County Oregon.
"The 308-acre gem, situated between Bald Hill Park and Wren, also includes a portion of the Marys River and forest trails"
Looking to the South and the view was spectacular.

Photos of Mary's Peak (above and bottom right) where the scenery was awesome.

Time to head back to the truck.  We walked through this little stand of fir (Left) where the light and shadows were simply amazing. I had to hang back a little bit and shoot this one with my brother Perry. See his photos at http://perry-myworld.blogspot.com/

Today started out white and then...

This morning my wife woke me by saying "It is Beautiful Outside" I had to ask how beautiful it was and the answer was "about 1 inch of snow on the ground. It was beautiful and was the perfect snow for building snowmen and for snow ball fights, which I did throw a couple snow balls. :-)

No, These are not the steps up to my house but I thought they were pretty cool

At around 11am most of the snow at my house had melted but the wind picked up. It was very interesting to see all the birds out and foraging one last time. Shortly after this photo was taken, the wind picked up to about 25mph out of the North and now we have around 6inches of snow and some interesting shapes and drifts. Photos will follow (tomorrow) of the drifts if we still have electricity (yes all lines here are above ground and subject to bad weather)

Since the taking of this final photo of the day, we now have another 4-6 inches of snow on the ground and a damn cold wind still blowing out of the North at a constant 25+ mph.
